Edwin Hekman was born in Almelo and grew up in a small town in The Netherlands, called Den Ham. He married his wife, Manon, in 1999 and together they have 2 children: Ian and Tim. After 11 years in the Dutch Marine Corps and 7 years as a national police officer/detective in The Netherlands, Edwin was sent to Aruba in 2008 to be part of the Criminal Investigation Team, where he participated in many international investigations within the Caribbean.
Even though it was a satisfying job, it took away a lot of family time. Thus, in 2013 he decided to stay in Aruba an spend more time with his family. He started his first business of interactive selling/buying online in Aruba. After a successful 2 years, he sold the website and started in Real Estate Business. With his past experience he gained valuable skills for negotiations, commitment, collaboration, and the importance of Trust and Honesty.
Edwin and his wife never wanted to return to The Netherlands, because life here is just more fun! Edwin gives back to the community through his Volunteer work. He is the ongoing Aruba Hi-Winds Organizer/Volunteer for the past 13 years, he also organizes the Mountain Bike 12hrs of Aruba, and the Duo Xtreme Mountain Bike race. His wife is a Yoga/Bootcamp teacher and owner of a Vacation Rental Company. She supports Edwin wherever she can.
His work experience, and volunteer work made him an Aruban citizen. He knows the Island very well and has made great relationships throughout his career. People trust his knowledge and expertise in Real Estate Business and therefore seek him to sell their properties or to find them their dream property.
